Our Health and Benefits business helps large and mid-size clients control health and welfare plan costs, improve health outcomes and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions. We provide solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support, legal compliance and governance strategies. We also provide Specialty consulting services including clinical/health management program design, pharmacy solutions, disability/absence management strategies and claims audit services. Product based solutions such as our pharmacy purchasing coalition round out our broad-based suite of offerings.

The Role

This Solution Architect position is responsible for the successful execution and completion of several technical healthcare benefits related tasks, projects and initiatives. You will play a key role for our Health and Benefits technology function by serving as the link between consultants, external clients, vendors, corporate functions and our internal team. You will contribute to the implementation of new services, and ongoing business by translating business needs into attainable solutions, practicing the fundamentals of systems analysis, design and solution architecture. You will also consult with clients concerning best practices, provide ongoing technical support, and train teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive research of related topics, document findings and effectively share results

  • Gather and assess business-related information and requirements and document clients’ (internal and external) needs

  • Build and demonstrate knowledge of the healthcare benefits consulting business

  • Establish internal and external partnerships with key stakeholders, leadership teams, vendor and client contacts

  • Architect and prototype solutions, establish guidelines and deliver and execute on actionable plans

  • Assist in establishing best practices and recommend changes and enhancements for standardized documentation

  • Attend meetings relevant to responsibility to establish client relationships and ensure complete understanding

  • Responsible for developing requirements documentation, flow charts and architecture diagrams and prototypes

  • Responsible for systems configuration

  • Identify reporting needs and requirements

  • Review and understand MSAs, SOWs, Contracts, NDAs, etc. and be responsible for identifying areas of concern, compliance and recommend changes

  • Work closely with developers to ensure project requirements/requests for changes are understood and within standards

  • Provide guidance to other team members regarding best/standard practices

  • Provide guidance/assistance to team members where needed to ensure that issues are resolved by assigned due dates. Escalate concerns regarding ability to meet due dates

  • Research issues and cases to determine root cause and provide impact analysis for ongoing issues, changes and requests for new functionality

  • Assist PM with development of project plan and schedules

  • Define, implement and monitor performance reports, identify trends, provide recommendations to avoid potential issues

  • Execute projects to identify and remediate issues with software and infrastructure

  • Research new technology solutions and recommend how they can be used to address specific problems with the business

The Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Solution Architect or a Systems/Business Analyst, preferably in the healthcare industry

  • Strong technical project management, business analysis and organizational skills

  • Experience with data analysis, manipulation, and reporting

  • using one or more of the following: SAS, SQL, MS Access, MS Excel, and applied statistical methods to complete data analysis

  • Demonstrated strong emphasis on high quality data, documentation, analytics and reporting

  • Demonstrated experience interfacing between various business and technical teams to document requirements and design solutions

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences both in written and verbal form

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and receive minimal guidance

  • Knowledge of Agile development structure

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office products

  • Strong analytical, integrative and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams, including virtual work teams with members in different geographic regions

  • Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to work in a performance driven environment managing multiple priorities

  • Sense of accountability, owning one’s work and taking pride in it; commitment to quality and continuous improvement

  • Good understanding of infrastructure, hosting and cloud solutions, including virtualization, VDI, SAN, encryption at rest/in motion, firewalls, switches, etc.

  • Good understanding of information security concepts and HIPAA requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Project
