The Quality

Assurance Team Manager roleat Willis

Towers Watsonserves as an integral member of a global Agile Product

Development team to design, build, test and deliver Willis Towers Watson’s

technology products to our external or internal clients. This role works with

Willis Towers Watson’s proprietary and/or industry-leading systems and

applications and ensures that these are designed and built according to

agreed-upon technicalspecifications and quality

standards.

Key Accountabilities / Duties:

Excellence

  • Works with the team inassessing opportunities to strengthen definition of done, and inunderstanding appropriate tests to automate, that gets the team closer todelivering quality software on time.

  • Promotes the value ofbehavior driven testing amongst the team

  • Leads and contributes to testing excellenceand automation maturity initiatives

  • Leverages the benefits ofautomated testing and strengthens reliability

  • Enhances and promotes QA automation withinSoftware Development

  • Creates an environment where innovation isencouraged and supported

  • Seeks awareness and keeps on top of status,issues, risks and mitigation plans, and effectively communicates throughappropriate channels

  • Actively advances technicalskills through participation in online, instructor-led or self-taughttraining.

  • Actively practices emotionalintelligence (empathy, self-awareness, self-motivation, self- management)on project teams and throughout the enterprise.

Clients

  • Understands how clients usethe application to focus testing that is centered around the user and notfunctionality exposed by the application

  • Seeks and understandstakeholder and product expectations and adjust testing as needed

  • Expands domain knowledge bypartnering with the PO/BA and UI/UX group, and through activeparticipation in product reviews, refinement, planning, and other domainrelated learning sessions.

  • Helps identify improvements in preventing andearly detection of client production issues

  • Develops a connection withclient delivery and product leaders to ensure that the delivered productis meeting quality goals

Financial

  • Ensures thatdevelopment effort is billed appropriately to maximize spend that can becapitalized.

  • Establishesmeasures and regularlymonitors those for better predictability, and to aid in identifyingContinuous Software Improvement suggestions and initiatives.

  • Seeksopportunities to advancetechniques for self and team for accurate quality assurance effort estimationsfor testing

People

  • Provides mentorship andguidance to QAs to perform better manual testing, write quality automatedtests, and test relevant areas related to load/performance testing

  • Helps drive competencyimprovement within the program

  • Serves as a champion ofquality and helps support the QA Community of Practice, knowledge sharingsessions, lunch & learn, brown bag sessions, and other learningsessions.

  • Strengthens agile practices, through activecollaboration and communication among team members, anchored on trust andempowerment, towards a common business goal

  • Establishesa global presence where theteam is driven by global accountability and not divided by regionalboundaries

The

Requirements:

  • Understands basic practices of agile software development

  • 1+ years experience leading small tomid-sized test projects

  • 2+ years experience working as a softwaretester for software or web applications

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge oftools and techniques used in manual testing

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge oftools and techniques used in automated testing (unit, integration, UI)

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge oftools and techniques used in load and performance testing includingapplication profiling and database optimization

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of thefollowing technologies and how it impacts testing: JavaScript, Ajax,Jquery, CSS, XML, Angular, load balancing, single/multi tenancy, andrational database design concepts

  • Intermediate to advanced skills inwriting T-SQL

  • Intermediateto advanced skills in the programming language C#
