NOTE – This role can be based in either Detroit or Cleveland.

As the Michigan and East Central Leader for our Global Services and Solutions (GSS) line of business you will have overall business responsibility for this region. You will develop and drive the sales and marketing strategy, manage and expand large client relationships, and serve as strategic advisor to multinational clients concerning their benefits, compensation and broader HR issues for their operations globally. You will lead and develop an experienced team providing broad-based global solutions. You’ll also be asked to contribute your thought leadership to the overall development of the GSS business. The contribution will impact not only regional business results but also global firm brand and market share.

Operating in the global market place means multinational companies face a variety of different business, cultural, language and regulatory environments. Our GSS business helps these companies navigate the challenges of multi-country complexity based on context knowledge of trends and innovative multi-client solutions. In particular, we help multinational companies develop global/cross-border solutions that meet the needs of both local and headquarter management in the design, establishment, administration, financing, operation, oversight and monitoring of their compensation and benefit programs around the world. In doing so, we work closely with our local offices in over 100 geographies, as well as subject matter experts in other Willis Towers Watson business segments.

The Role

  • Sales and marketing strategy: Primary accountability for leading and executing a business strategy to penetrate the market, introduce new clients to the firm and expand relationships with current clients in order to meet revenue growth goals

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell new products and services

  • Collaborate with Client Development Group and sales teams to identify, develop and close strategic sales opportunities

  • Build relationships with internal and external sources to maximize the penetration of key target accounts

  • Operations management: Contribute to development of growth plans and budgets, delivering planned performance and ensuring teams generate revenue and market share growth in accordance with North American plan

  • People management and development: Develop and execute on strategic regional talent plans, including overseeing people processes (e.g., recruiting, training and development, goal setting and performance management, employee satisfaction and compensation/bonus recommendations)

  • Member of Michigan and East Central Leadership Teams: Work across Willis Towers Watson business (within the Region) and with the Leadership Team to meet overall Regional objectives

  • Member of Midwest GSS Leadership Team: Work with other GSS leaders to achieve overall Midwest objectives

  • Collaboration: Collaborate across Regions(s), Geography, Businesses and Segments to effectively pursue and deliver on multi-faceted global opportunities

  • Client relationship management and delivery: Responsible for all aspects of local delivery of Willis Towers Watson products and services for GSS.

  • Collaborate with the global intellectual capital (IC) leader to develop client strategies to deepen, broaden and build profitable relationships, including the management and deployment of colleagues to effectively deliver client work

  • Strategy, new product and intellectual capital (IC) development: support the development , commercialization and dissemination of IC in cooperation with IC leadership

  • Ensure appropriate governance and Professional Excellence work quality process are adopted on all work carried out

The Requirements

  • Significant experience and success in leading an International consulting team

  • Proven ability to generate and manage profitable revenue growth

  • Track record of success in managing large client relationships

  • Proven success in the design/management of global benefit/compensation programs to Fortune 1,000 or organizations of similar size gained in a consulting environment

  • An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills

  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization

  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in global compensation/benefits approaches and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches

  • Flexibility with regard to domestic and global travel that can range from 10-40%

  • An undergraduate degree is required; advanced degree preferred

  • Experience living and working overseas and foreign language skills preferred
