JOB DESCRIPTION

Willis Re is seeking ambitious, analytical broking talent with 15-20 years of experience in insurance or consulting to work in our treaty broking team in New York, NY. It is necessary to have a predominance of experience in developing, marketing, and placing structured reinsurance deals strategies with property and casualty insurance company clients. This is a client facing role in a team environment that involves a focus as new business production and new product development.

The Role

  • Experience and understanding of Structured Reinsurance deals including retroactive solutions (e.g. Loss Portfolio Transfers and Adverse Development Covers) as well as structured prospective solutions (e.g. aggregate stop loss covers and other structured XOLs)

  • Understanding of structured reinsurance products, terms, pricing models, and regulatory and accounting issues

  • Work with the broking team, actuaries and cat modelers to analyze insurance risks on a portfolio level in order to advise clients on reinsurance treaty structures to mitigate downside risk and improve capital efficiency.

  • Negotiate and manage placement of reinsurance treaties utilizing markets from the US, London, Bermuda and around the world in specific structured reinsurance underwriters within larger reinsurers.

  • Manage the coordination of underwriting and claims audits of insurance clients.

  • Ensure company, market and client related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time.

  • Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Coordinate internal resources, such as analytics, contracts and client services to provide solutions to client(s).

  • Meet with senior managers of client companies to present materials.

  • Research on industry topics and the development of content to be shared with Clients and Prospects.

  • This position would require management capabilities, coordinating brokers and analytics towards the development of reinsurance strategies and placement.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.

  • 15 – 20 years of work experience, preferably in P&C insurance or reinsurance or consulting.

  • Experience required in developing and giving strategy presentations to clients, reinsurers and internal groups.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, reinsurers and colleagues alike.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, percentiles and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
