The Role

As an Investment Strategy Associate, you will work with senior consultants to provide first class advice to a range of clients. Your primary focus will be asset/liability modelling for the purpose of developing strategy advice relating to asset allocation, dynamic allocation strategies, portfolio construction, funding policy, plan design, and settlement strategy for pension plans and post retirement benefit plans.


  • Preparation of models for asset liability analysis, including suggesting and making enhancements to improve models or solutions

  • Prepare first drafts of client documents communicating asset/liability modelling results and advice


  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels


  • Gain exposure to a wide range of clients through investment and settlement strategy projects

  • Work with consultants in order to iteratively provide suitable solutions in a timely manner

  • Liaise with members of the wider investment team and benefits segment in order to gain the necessary data and understanding of the client’s needs

  • Increase efficiency within the strategy team by identifying ways to improve processes


  • Meet chargeable hours targets

The Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree along with progress towards relevant professional qualifications such as ASA, CFA

  • Familiarity with US funding rules, pension accounting standards, and actuarial concepts, particularly relating to pension actuarial liabilities

  • Interest in and knowledge of stochastic asset liability modelling

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Comfortable and successful in a team environment; able to fit seamlessly on teams of senior and more junior colleagues

  • Very strong working knowledge of Excel and databases

  • Enquiring and analytically minded with a logical and thorough work ethic

  • Track record of delivering high quality work on time and within budget
