The Role

The Claims Manager is responsible to delivers claims services, taking overall responsibility for the smooth running of client accounts by providing or introducing technical, sales and service support on all claims-related matters thereby becoming the main point of contact for all general/strategic claims issues. Generates additional revenue, retains existing clients and provides a differentiating factor with regard to new business by assisting in the acquisition and management of client accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support on new business opportunities, attending client review meetings and contributing towards the pricing of claims services

  • Develops and grows relationships with clients and carriers

  • Serves as the primary claim contact for designated clients as assigned. Reports claims to carriers, and assists the client in mitigating their loss/exposure and quantifying their claim

  • Answers claims, coverage and exposure questions from clients and placement teams

  • Understands the client’s business and associated insurance risks and exposures.

  • Collaborates with placement brokers on broking and placement issues. Reviews and drafts policy language, drafts endorsements, conducts policy comparisons, reviews and analyses coverage letters.

  • Sets up and coordinates claims service solutions which may involve bringing together various parties such as insurers; Willis in-house claims team members and other specialist providers.

  • Upon acquisition, agrees, prepares and manages the Claims Handling Agreement and procedures, service specification, Service Levels and Claims Handling Contract.

  • Briefs the Willis claims team on the new client, their claims service requirements and claims profile to ensure that there is an appropriate service contract in place, including any funding arrangements and detailing exit arrangements on termination of contract.

  • Advises Account Handlers of any potential problems, contentious claims and general claims trends.

  • Ongoing management of relationship and quality of service between and provided by claims handling teams, Broking Team and all key suppliers.

  • Ensures service providers’ agreed targets are met and reviews regularly to ensure consistency of service.

  • Supports the management of individual large and/or complex losses, and is on-site where necessary.

  • Adheres to WEM procedures.

  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Account Executives securing route to market.

  • Manages claims relations with insurers, loss adjusters, other claims service providers and insurance industry market bodies.

The Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of insurance claims handling or advocacy

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Computer literacy and competency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of specific claims area

  • Understanding of client’s industry sector and key associated risks

  • Demonstrated success at first class client service

  • Good awareness of market and legislative developments
