JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary focus of the Risk Consultant is to deliver Risk Management services to support Regional Business Leaders, Industry Practices, Account Directors / Executives, New Business Leads, Project Managers, Marketing, etc. in the delivery of the GB Retail Annual Plan.

Furthermore to provide direct support in new business propositions, supporting on account defences, and delivery of Risk Consultancy projects in line with client expectations. The Risk Consulting Practice delivers a range of services including (but not limited to):-

  • Business Continuity Management

  • Supply Chain Risk Management

  • Enterprise Risk Management

  • Strategic Risk

  • Cyber Risk

  • Business Interruption Reviews

The Role

  • Engaging with clients to help them articulate and assess current arrangements around business continuity, enterprise risk management, and disaster recovery strategies and providing objective advice and direction on a wide range of operational and strategic risk issues.

  • Supporting clients with the creation, amendment, and or/revision of their Business Continuity and emergency response plans. Clients will be from a range of industries including motoring manufacturers, food producers, auction houses, aerospace manufacturers, leisure facilities, higher education establishments, local and national charities and local authorities.

  • Supporting clients seeking to achieve ISO22301 Certification

  • Conducting BS25999 and ISO22301 audits of Business Continuity Plans.

  • Delivery of training sessions in emergency management and business continuity,

  • Conducting Business Impact Analysis work

  • Helping the account team to map operational and strategic risks both actual and emerging against current insurance and other risk mitigation methods.

  • Identify and agree Milestones for performance measurement and success

  • Support the client’s risk journey and assist in their strategic goals and objectives.

Proposition Management

  • Provide objective advice and direction to clients and Account Teams on a wide range of operational and strategic risk issues

  • Support Account Teams in account defences, new business propositions, and the servicing existing clients’ risk management needs

  • Work with Account Teams to help identify and define client needs with a view to developing long-term client relationships

  • Leveraging industry insight, contribute to the development of the proposition for the WTW GB Retail business and other lines of business where appropriate

  • Build service offering in conjunction with Account Teams and Marketing across WTW

  • Share best practice with the wider Risk Management Team Practice Leaders, Account Teams and Business Unit Leaders as appropriate

  • Identify and manage key external and internal stakeholders (incl business developers, service teams, etc.) in the promotion and delivery of the services

Growth and Business Development

  • Work with Regional and Business Unit Leaders, Industry Practices and Marketing teams to build and deliver client and proposition-specific engagement and delivery plans for the practice

  • Attend prospect and new client meetings as appropriate

  • Work with Regional and Business Unit Leaders, Industry Practices and other relevant P&L holders to support sales strategies for each area as appropriate

Operational Delivery

  • Support the Risk Consulting Practice Leader to develop practice capability within Regional Offices and Industry Practices as required – share knowledge and develop training / communication plans.

Other

  • Speak at Thought Leaderships events/seminars as required and ensure the Practice expertise is captured within the Expertise Portal and on WTW.com

  • Any other duties commensurate with position or level of responsibility

  • Maintain relevant qualifications required for the role

The Requirements

  • Appropriate industry and / or professional qualifications (e.g. ACII, MIRM, CMIOSH, CBCI, etc.)

  • A strong background involving helping large organisations create, implement and review business continuity and emergency response procedures and plans

  • Experience in relation to ISO22301 and BS25999 preferred

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and high levels of business and financial acumen with an understanding of company strategy, operating environment and business objectives

  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a broad spectrum of internal clients

  • Strong skills in planning and problem solving with a clear focus on understanding and exceeding client expectations

  • Good facilitation skills – able to use inclusive/collaborative styles to gain agreement and manage conflict

  • Good level of internal credibility

  • Good understanding of general insurance products, services and the insurance broking process

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Ideal candidate will have experience gained within a similar role

  • Relevant experience of managing stakeholders at all levels and actively engaging with remote business units

  • Experience of working within large, multi-dimensional organisations

  • Proven track record of delivering excellent levels of client service

  • Good understanding of company strategy, operating environment and business objectives

  • Strong awareness of internal politics with the ability to read and assess situations to identify different agendas and adapt approach accordingly

  • Excellent levels of client and peer group service

  • Good understanding of general insurance products, services and the insurance broking process
