The Asset Management Exchange (AMX) benefits both institutional investors as well as investment managers – offering a smarter, easier and cheaper operating model to both sides. Your primary goal is to develop relationships with investment managers, across a variety of asset classes, with the aim of converting them onto the AMX platform. In some cases, an institutional investor will simply request that an existing manager joins AMX, but in most cases the decision to join will be based on your ability to clearly outline the value proposition of AMX to the manger, persuading them to launch new funds on AMX and switch existing funds across.

In addition to introducing managers to the concepts and principles of AMX, the successful applicant will also be responsible for commercial negotiation of the manager’s fees before handing over to the on-boarding team.

The Role

The Manager Sales role is within the AMX Business Development team and reports to the Head of External Sales. Given the entrepreneurial nature of the business you will be working closely with the entire team.

Initial duties will include:

  • Establish the universe of relevant investment managers, segment it and develop a list of priority targets

  • Develop the messaging, pitch and commercials for each target

  • Work collegiately as we build an appropriately resourced team

Ongoing duties will include:

  • Establishing and building on relationships with managers in order to continually build the platform in terms of number of managers and strategies offered on the platform

  • Commercial negotiation of management fees and other commercial and key terms relevant to the manager and their “membership” of the AMX platform

  • Building on existing relationships in order to on-board further assets or other funds and strategies that the manager may have

  • “Marketing” the AMX offering in the investment manager world more broadly – conference speaking, interviews etc

  • Working with the broader AMX Business Development team to ensure that the strategy for manger and asset owner business development is fully aligned

  • Ensuring an appropriate handover of new relationships into the AMX on-boarding team, issue escalation and resolution.

Management reporting via a CRM system and other methods if applicable to ensure the AMX management team is updated on strategy and progress. Given the importance of these relationships, it is expected that the successful candidate will have a lot of access to and the full support of the Global Head of AMX and any other members of the executive group as required.

The Requirements

  • Demonstrable success in a sales/distribution role at a senior level in the asset management or asset servicing industry, specifically with regards to the investment manager community

  • Able to forge relationships and credibility quickly and effectively

  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with senior business leaders, drawing on strong business acumen

  • Self-motivated and organised with ability to manage and prioritise multiple opportunities simultaneously

  • Team player who is flexible and adaptable across a range of tasks.
