The Role

Broking (Primary Role)

  • To understand a client or prospect’s business, situations, opportunities, problems and key issues

  • To design programmes , identify appropriate markets and determine placing strategy for US Property, Business Interruption and Non Physical Damage BI Risks

  • Manage relationships and negotiate placement with the use of analytics , ideally with use of AIR and RMS, and have experience in articulating this output to both internal and external stakeholders

  • Apply understanding of primary and secondary modifiers on portfolios and how the absence of those modifiers may affect the resulting Model Sensitivity Analysis with the aim of improving portfolio data

  • Participate in information gathering exercises and peer reviews

  • In depth understanding of catastrophe modelling, specifically how to utilize analytical reports as a broker

  • Including key components of catastrophe models, stochastic events, calculating Average Annual Loss from Event Loss Tables

  • Knowledge of how geocoding works and how to use geospatial tools to more accurately calculate risk

  • Utilise modelling tools including spatial key, NATHAN maps

  • Work closely with UK clients and client service teams to establish broking strategy for renewal and new business

  • Ability to place package and standalone property, casualty, terrorism programmes for UK and International clients

  • Present broking results direct to Real Estate clients

  • Utilise in-house facilities where appropriate and understand the nuances of a facility placement against an open-market placement

  • Work with the Real Estate client team and insurers to build detailed pipeline

  • Establish and place Excess Public Liability programmes for Real Estate clients

Business Development (Primary Role)

  • Responsibility for supporting the drive of the sales process and business area practice activity in relation to winning, retaining and developing profitable new clients

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects and accurately maintain the CRM database in order to create and convert sales opportunities

  • Respond quickly and accurately to new business introductions

  • Actively identify opportunities to work with colleagues across the business to capitalise on account penetration and cross selling opportunities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant products and services offered by Willis Towers Watson

  • Gain an understanding about the CoE products lines to be able to talk articulately to colleagues, clients and prospects

Client Relationship Management (Support Role)

  • Understand the clients’ business and risk management needs and look for solutions to deliver those needs through the provision of ongoing service

  • Have a strong interest in US and UK current affairs to facilitate engagement with clients and colleagues

  • Identify analytics as an opportunity to add value to the London process

  • Provide technical, industry and subject matter expertise where required from both a broking and analytical perspective

  • Liaise with clients and build strong relationships

  • Determine appropriate solutions, structure, price and placement strategies that meet the clients’ needs and deliver profitable business for a range of clients

  • Grow existing portfolio by identifying new new, and/or existing opportunities

Operational and Service Delivery (Support Role)

  • Lead and deliver the end to end ongoing client service, adhering to standardised policies, procedures and service standards

  • Full understanding and experience of PPL in both negotiation and binding

  • Support the BU in accurate budgeting, forecasting and tracking of revenue

  • Deliver high levels of client service in line with standard operating procedures

  • Communicate effectively with clients, associates, markets and others where appropriate to maximise service delivery levels

  • Manage KPIs/SLAs to ensure targets are met

The Requirements

  • Graduate level or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in the insurance industry

  • Relationship management: Customer focus, collaboration and interpersonal skills and conflict management

  • Have a strong interest in US and UK current affairs to facilitate engagement with clients and colleagues

  • Have a high proficiency in the placement of package and standalone for US and UK risks, especially catastrophic exposure territories

  • Business acumen: demonstrates knowledge of industries and clients, carriers and/or markets

  • Knowledge of PPL in placing business into the London marketplace

  • Strong analytical skills, knowledge of how geocoding works and of modelling tools including Spatial Key and NATHAN maps

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with limited supervision

  • High proficiency in desktop computer applications; MS Excel acumen required
