As a Head of Sales for LifeSight GB, Willis Towers Watson’s DC master trust, your key role will be to acquire new clients for the LifeSight DC Master Trust, whether this be by creating and responding to sales opportunities from existing Willis Towers Watson clients or by prospecting externally for new opportunities, leading the sale to new contacts. The role, which is market facing and commercially active, will also require you to form strong relationships with appropriate business introducer firms.

LifeSight represents one of our biggest business growth opportunities in the UK. Our growing team has quickly gained a strong foothold in this exciting space, supported by an ambitious marketing and sales plan, which aim to disrupt the marketplace and make us stand out against our competitors. We have secured in excess of £2bn of assets under management and 50,000 members with a pipeline which will enable us to grow this exponentially over the coming years.

Success will be measured by the quantum of assets under management and sustained profitable revenue growth secured for LifeSight (GB) against annually agreed sales targets as as well the strength of the pipeline to support wins in the following financial year.

The location is flexible although travel around the UK will be required with regular meetings (several days each week) and interaction with the LifeSight team in London.

The Role

The Head of Sales role reports to the Managing Director, LifeSight and is a market facing, commercially active role. Your key role will be to acquire new clients for the LifeSight DC Master Trust, whether this be by responding to sales opportunities from existing Willis Towers Watson clients or by prospecting externally for new opportunities, leading the sale to new contacts. The role will combine working with the Client Relationship Director and Global Head of Sales (Retirement) on very large, complex opportunities and taking personal ownership for all proposals.

The role will also have dual reporting to the Global Head of Sales (Retirement) or the GB Head of Sales.

The successful candidate will join the growing LifeSight team with key responsibilities which include:

  • Leading the sales resources and setting the LifeSight sales strategy

  • Building, growing and ongoing proactive management of a solid pipeline of opportunities

  • Owning the RFP response process: working with the proposal writing team to respond in an accurate, compelling and timely way to all LifeSight requests for proposals received – personally drafting responses to questions and securing input from subject matter experts as needed.

  • Conversion of sales opportunities to LifeSight master trust wins, on profitable terms

  • Building strong commerical external relationships with new prospects and business introducers

  • Ability to uncover and address client needs to tailor LifeSight proposals to meet those needs

  • Ability to manage relationships with colleagues at all levels and from different backgrounds to obtain introductions to WTW clients and engage support to secure the LifeSight win

  • Building trusted relationships and working effectively with the LifeSight team and wider business leadership across all line of business

  • Over a short period becoming recognised by the business as a “ go to person” for the sale of LifeSight

  • High quality oral, written and presentation skills will be essential with exceptionally strong attention to detail

  • Demonstration of being able to meet and exceed the expectations of clients/prospects

  • Commitment to continuous improvement of sales process (including monitoring activity) and efficiency gains in responding to RfP’s (including implementing bid/no bid discipline)

The Requirements

Essential

  • Significant and detailed knowledge of UK DC pension and employee benefits – either from consulting sales or an insurance product sales environment

  • Strong network with DC corporate purchasers and business introducers in this market

  • Proven track record of sales and business development in the corporate market place

  • Proven ability to consistently meet and exceed stretching sales targets.

  • Self motivated and self starter – energy and drive is essential

  • Willing to work independently in order to drive results

  • Ability to build collaborative teams at all levels

  • Strong gravitas and well developed written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work and deliver to demanding deadlines

  • Demonstrable ability to understand corporate benefit sales issues and how to positively influence and close complex sales

  • Excellent sales negotiaiton skills to secure profitable flow of new business

  • Diligence in identifying, following up and securing new revenue opportunities

  • Experience of working effectively in a global, matrix structure

  • May require GB regional and possibly international travel as necessary

Desirable

  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organization

  • Previous sales track record with a DC master trust

  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in benefits and contributing to the development of new propositions

  • Systems knowledge: must ensure that sales function complies with broader corporate requirements

  • Strong business and commercial acumen

  • Demonstrate strong problem solving and solution generation
