Affinity is a line of business (LoB) within Corporate Risk & Broking (CRB) that supports clients to develop ancillary revenues through targeted solutions that help reduce costs, create differentiation, and improve customer retention and satisfaction rates. This is a high focus area of the Willis Tower Watson (WTW) business with huge potential and challenging targets.

The Role

Currently Affinity is delivered through a variety of platforms and solutions. A key part of the role is aggregating data from our bespoke, proprietary system and other Affinity legacy systems to provide insights into consumer behaviours that will help us tailor the solution to provide more value for our clients. In addition to this, the development of advanced analytics and reporting capabilities will make it easy for our clients to have complete transparency and control over their Affinity programmes. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for the creation of internal performance dashboards, working with our Technology teams to best utilise the WTW data stores and supporting the core teams in analysis covering for example: financial i.e. investment returns, and prospect performance reporting.

Based in our London office and reporting directly to the Affinity Delivery Lead, we are seeking an experienced, personable, high energy Data Analyst, with strong data analysis skills, excellent interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across geographies – Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America – in a matrix environment. Alternatively, we will also consider high-calibre graduate candidates with excellent data analysis skills seeking their first step in this career path.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a single view of the Affinity prospects pipeline and performance (KPI) across all regions – “Sales Dashboard”

  • Analyse the specific data requirements for Affinity e.g. price phasing and with work with MS Dynamics team to get this onto product roadmap

  • Review monthly P&L reports and conduct revenue analysis for all regions – “Finance Dashboard”

  • Establish Business Case KPIs

  • Conduct Investment Appraisal to ascertain ROI

  • Establish clear traceability from Prospect to Go-live

  • Establish KPIs to demonstrate Warranty and BAU Performance

  • Create a “Delivery Dashboard” that encompasses the status of prospects, implementations and BAU activity

  • Establish and measure the performance of Balanced Scorecard e.g. NPS, TCO, Customer Retention

  • Support the Senior Product Owner (SPO) in the creation of the Data & Analytics Strategy

  • Understand key concepts i.e. Big Data, Telematics

  • Support the SPO in the integration of WTW Data Stores into the GenASys platform

  • Work with ICT, CMA and Affinity Teams to develop our External Analytics proposition.

  • Work with CRB Technology teams to develop GenASys Dashboard reporting capability both internally and externally

  • Support the Global Delivery Lead and CFO in undertaking a “Total Cost of Ownership” exercise to establish the true cost of IT across the Affinity Technical Landscape.

The Requirements

You will preferably be educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification in the field of data analysis or certificated evidence of data analysis training courses attended. You will be able to display superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to quickly understand the organisation and how the different functions act with each other. Ideally, you will have experience of working with IT departments and supporting the development, testing and maintenance of IT systems in a business (not IT) capacity. In addition you will have an understanding and experience of the full project lifecycle and required documentation.

Essential:

  • Data analysis experience gained from projects of similar nature

  • Power BI experience

  • SQL Enterprise Manager experience

  • In-depth experience of managing and interrogating large datasets using SQL (T-SQL scripts)

  • Advanced Excel (including lookups and pivot tables)

  • Ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret different data to derive insight and drive decision making

Desirable:

  • Experience of the insurance/financial sector is desirable together with a broad understanding of operational insurance processes (e.g. new business, renewals, mid-term adjustments).

  • Data Modelling tools such as: Select Architect, Enterprise Architect

  • Experience with ETL tools such as SQL Server and SSIS

  • Ability to translate logical data models into physical data models

  • E-R (Entity-Relationship) Modelling

  • Ability to normalise data relationships and design a logical data model

  • Ability to design and de-normalise a logical data model

  • Dimensional Data Modelling

  • Experience with MS Dynamics CRM, Oracle Finance, MS Team Foundation Server, WebTrends.
