Summary of Role

As a Senior Investment Analyst in the team you will assist in providing a first class service to a range of UK DB & DC pension scheme clients on a range of investment services. These services include: advice regarding mission and governance; asset-liability modelling and the development and delivery of advice regarding appropriate (dynamic) long-term investment strategies with risk-return trade-off tailored to clients’ specific circumstances; implementation of strategy, including portfolio construction and risk management, mandate/manager and custodian selection; monitoring and evaluation of performance of managers and, more importantly, overall strategy versus liabilities and objectives.

  • Ability to take ownership for certain projects, delivering work to budget and within required timescales.

  • Write and review reports in a timely and effective manner.


  • Build strong relationships internally in the Investment team and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.

  • Liaise with members of Towers Watson’s wider business in order to gain the necessary data and understanding of the client’s needs.

  • Periodic involvement with technical working parties and provision of training to more junior members of the team and practice.


  • Deal with Lead Consultants in order to provide a suitable solution; presented well and delivered in a timely manner.

  • Support senior team members in construction and delivery of presentations to clients.

  • Deal with clients on a day to day basis, supported by Consultants and other Investment Analysts as appropriate.

The Requirements

  • Minimum 2:1 degree is required along with progress towards or willingness to study for relevant professional qualifications, such as CFA, FIA or equivalent.

  • Some work experience in a relevant Financial Service role.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Interest in investment issues and desire to deepen knowledge over time.

  • Knowledge and understanding of different asset classes.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to deliver timely and accurate solutions, sometimes at short notice.

  • Able to fit seamlessly into a team of senior and more junior people all focussed on delivering work of exceptional quality.

  • Good IT (especially Excel) skills.
