JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Senior Retirement Actuarial Consultant you will be primarily responsible for developing new business, leading and delivering large, strategic client engagements and serving as strategic advisor to clients in your areas of subject matter expertise. You’ll also be asked to contribute your thought leadership to the overall development of the Retirement Line of Business.

The Role

  • Primary accountability for growing Retirement revenue

  • Cross-sell new projects and services to current Retirement clients; maximize the penetration of key accounts

  • Serve as the lead Retirement strategist/subject matter expert in closing opportunities with new clients of the firm

  • Work with existing sales and Client Development teams to identify, develop and close new clients of the company

  • Lead client relationships from a Retirement perspective

  • Establish a trusted advisor role with clients and provide consistent, superior relationship management

  • Identify opportunities to cross sell projects and services to current clients

  • Lead and manage multiple large Retirement consulting client engagements

  • Build leveraged teams that work effectively together

  • Develop plans for execution of large, global engagements

  • Ensure project managers are maintaining team progress against established budget, timeline and quality standards (while you have overall responsibility, consultant level staff typically serve as day to day project managers)

  • Finalize and present quality deliverables to clients

  • Serve as Senior Actuary for select clients

  • Provide deep level of technical expertise for complex and large client relationships

  • Oversee actuaries and other financial experts in the delivery of value added models, projections and analytics

  • Serve as senior strategist and subject matter expert and ensure clients are regularly informed about the implications and opportunities that changing laws and regulations have related to their retirement plans

  • Perform technical review of work products

  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches to Retirement plan strategy and management

  • Demonstrate extensive leadership ability by mentoring other consultant

  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Oversee actuaries and other financial experts in the delivery of value added models, projections and analytics

The Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience and success in the design and management of large group Retirement benefits gained in a consulting environment

  • A broad understanding of human capital strategy and the ability to contribute to cross-practice client engagements

  • Proven ability to generate revenue and grow market share

  • Track record of success in managing large client relationships and leading global teams

  • Experience in managing multiple people and projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget

  • Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges

  • An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills

  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization

  • BA/BS plus ASA/FCIA required, FSA/EA highly preferred
