The Role

As a Health & Benefits Consultant you will be primarily responsible for developing new business, leading and delivering large, strategic client engagements and serving as strategic advisor to clients in your areas of subject matter expertise. You’ll also be asked to contribute your thought leadership to the overall development of the Health & Benefits practice.

Performance Objectives:


  • Primary responsibility for identifying, prospecting and closing new business in order to achieve annual revenue goals

  • Identify and target appropriate client segmentation to develop sales value proposition, adopt solution-based sales approach to win new clients

  • Coordinate with existing sales and Client Relationship Management teams to identify, develop and close strategic sales opportunities

  • Build relationships with internal and external sources to maximize the penetration of key target accounts


  • Lead and manage multiple client engagements

  • Finalize and present quality deliverables to clients

  • Deliver Health Consulting client engagements

  • Develop and deliver large Health consulting projects

  • Ensure progress against established budget, timeline and quality standards


  • Serve as senior Health Consulting strategist on projects, ensuring that HC strategy fits within overall benefits strategy

  • Perform technical review of work products

  • Contribute to the development of new Health Consulting tools and approaches


  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Be the Health champion and go-to-expert in matters relating to Health and Benefits consulting

The Requirements

  • Significant experience and success in the design/management of group health plans gained in a consulting or brokerage environment; prior experience in underwriting or in an actuarial function gained in a carrier and/or managed care environment preferred

  • Proven ability to generate new business revenue

  • Track record of success in managing large client relationships

  • Experience in managing multiple people and projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget

  • Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges

  • An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills

  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization

  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in Health & Benefits plan strategy and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches

  • Flexibility with regard to regional travel that can range from 10-30%

  • An undergraduate degree is required; preferably in Medical/Health-related facility
